Kilmore Country House Wedding
A Hidden Gem in the Queen of the Glens
Kilmore Country House Wedding
A Kilmore Country House wedding is one that really wows your guests. Set in Glenariffe (the Queen of the Glens), it feels like a proper escape from everyday life, with peace, scenery, and some of the best views in Northern Ireland.
It’s a boutique, private wedding venue where everything feels relaxed and personal. From the moment you arrive, you leave the busy world behind and just enjoy the surroundings, hospitality, and atmosphere.
It was everything Cathy and Jim wanted for their wedding day. A private wedding at Kilmore Country House suited them perfectly, and it delivered exactly what they had hoped for.
Hailing from opposite ends of the country (Belfast and Cork), they held their ceremony in Belfast before travelling along the beautiful Antrim Coast Road to Kilmore Country House for their celebrations. It made for a really special journey for their guests, and everything ran perfectly.
Kilmore Country House Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
Want an outdoor ceremony with the best backdrop in Ireland? Then step right up — Kilmore Country House is for you. The view is exceptional, and I challenge anyone to find a wedding venue in Northern Ireland with a better one. On a sunny day, there are awesome views of Red Bay through to the Mull of Kintyre. It’s simply beautiful.

Cathy and Jim held their ceremony in Belfast; however, I’ve popped up the above photo. I think it gives an idea of how wonderful the dramatic views are. It also shows how amazing an outdoor wedding ceremony can be here (I took this photo a few weeks later at another wedding — thanks Orla and Colm).
Outdoor weddings are fantastic; however, the Northern Ireland weather can be a little temperamental. If this happens, the lovely staff at Kilmore Country House will quickly move things indoors. Nothing is any trouble for this great team… so don’t worry about the weather, as this is a venue that can adapt to all seasons.
Wedding Photography at Kilmore Country House
Now this is what I love about Kilmore Country House the most. Sometimes I don’t know where to start, as there are so many options. I absolutely love shooting here. It is a hidden gem with stunning backdrops for some amazing photos. The private grounds provide a great starting point, and you really don’t need to leave, as there are so many fantastic photography options on site.
Nonetheless, with Glenariffe Waterfall a 5-minute drive away, it’s nice to head off for 15 minutes to get some incredible wedding photos (and to get a breather from the madness of your wedding day).
On their wedding day, Cathy and Jim decided to pay Glenariffe Beach a visit for some photos (it’s only 5 minutes away too). I think you will agree that the dramatic and spectacular landscape is just beautiful in their wedding photos. Jim is from Cork, and it was his family’s first time in the Glens of Antrim. On the beach, his mum was blown away by the setting. There is no doubt, the Queen of the Glens is a beautiful place.
It didn’t take us long to complete the wedding photos. After a 10-minute shoot on the beach, we then spent another 20 minutes at Kilmore. I usually ask brides and grooms for around 45 minutes for their wedding photos; however, Kilmore Country House is so intimate that in 20 minutes, we had covered the bride and groom portraits. This allowed Cathy and Jim to get back to the party… and party they did!
Kilmore Country House Wedding Reception
On Cathy and Jim’s wedding day, the sun shone brightly. At this magnificent Georgian mansion, wedding guests mingled outside while the pavilion was prepared for the wedding party.
The focus was on family and friends enjoying the celebration. A harpist played in the background, whilst everyone enjoyed the craic. The homely atmosphere of Kilmore Country House, coupled with the relaxed vibe of the bride and groom, made this a truly fantastic and chilled-out wedding. This was my type of wedding, and one which was an absolute pleasure to photograph.
Kilmore Country House is an exclusive venue to host your wedding. It’s a hidden gem, providing a magical setting for your big day. As a Northern Ireland wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings here.
If you are looking for unique and secluded luxury on your wedding day, pop Kilmore Country House at the top of your list of venues to check out.
