Lissanoure Castle – an exceptional wedding venue

A place where your DREAM wedding will become a reality.

Lissanoure Castle, nestled in the heart of County Antrim, is an incredible wedding venue.

From the 1300’s, there has been a record of a castle at the site, with the current castle built in 1625. It suffered a devastating explosion in 1847 and fell into disrepair for some time. In the 20th Century, the Mackie family have lovingly restored and curated the building into the beautiful castle that stands at Lissanoure today.

For weddings, its a perfect fairytale venue.

Where is Lissanoure Castle

Lissanoure Castle is in Co Antrim, in the foot hills of the nine Glens of Antrim.

Approximately one hour by car from Belfast and with plenty of parking for cars and coaches on site, its the perfect venue to escape to, leaving the hustle and bustle of the world behind.

Its proximity to the North Coast and the famous Antrim Coast Road, makes it a perfect venue for those wanting to make a mini break out of their wedding weekend. This happens more than you would think, with guests travelling from all parts of Ireland, the UK and further afield, to see their love ones wed in Northern Ireland.

In the local area, there are many spectacular attractions such as The Giants Causeway and The Dark Hedges (AKA The Kings Road in Game of Thrones) for all to enjoy.

This 18th century Coach House, has been transformed from stables into the most exquisite venue. With open fires, two elegant reception rooms await you and your guests.

The first time I walked into the Coach House, I was in awe. The incredible doors, its semi circular shape, decorated impeccably, and how it is oh so stylish. I have no doubt, any couple who choose Lissanoure Castle will love this space

With rustic vibes, open fires and comfortable seating areas, this unique Castle Barn is perfect for weddings.

Less than a 2 minute stroll from the Coach House, this restored barn is an impressive space for entertaining. Its beautiful and doesn’t really need any personalisation or additional decor. However many add their own finishing touches.

Perfect for larger weddings, the Castle Barn will give you one of those amazing family weddings that go down in history.

Wedding Photography at Lissanoure Castle

Oh my goodness, where do I start!

This venue is perfect for wedding photography. There are a zillion options, far too many to go into in detail here. For now I’ll focus on the 3 main areas that people use.

Lissanoure Courtyard

This outstanding courtyard is a dream for wedding photographers. Close enough to where every everything is happening, yet doubling up as a sensational backdrop to your family photos and casual candids of your guests.

Its beautiful stonework and elegantly coloured doors and gates are simply perfect. Its a great place to get that group photo of all of your guests.

Clock Tower and Old Castle Ruins

Just beyond the courtyard is a grassed area with old stone walls. These are the Old Castle Ruins from the explosion in 1847.

Looking back towards the Coach House, the impressive and restored Clock Tower creates a dramatic backdrop for wedding photos. Its an area that makes me dizzy with excitement as there are so many nooks and cranny’s that can be used for wedding photos here.

Lissanoure Lake

Peaceful, serene, calming, tranquil. Four words to describe Lissanoure Lake, where couples love to escape to for 10 minutes.

Without fail, all couples love to escape from their wedding. Just the two of them, perhaps a glass of fizz or favourite tipple. It re-charges the excitement of the day, allows for ‘you’ time and lets you soak up the love you share.

Lissanoure Lake allows you to do this. It only takes 5 minutes to get there, but its far enough from the venue to totally relax and connect with each other. The Lake is my favourite place for wedding photos at Lissanoure Castle.
