This is exactly what childhood sweethearts Kenzie and Chris wanted for their wedding day. A private wedding at Lusty Beg island was right up their street, and was everything they could have wished for (and more).

Arriving the day before, the wedding party were booked into some of the amazing lodges on the Lake shore. When I arrived on the morning of the wedding day, the party was in full swing.

The girls were getting beautified and having a sneaky prosecco. I got some great photos of them on the veranda of their lodge. Meanwhile, Chris and the boys were not too far away, having the best of craic, and a good bit of banter.

Are dogs allowed on Lusty Beg Island?

Outdoor Ceremony 

An outdoor ceremony is one of the big attractions for Lusty Beg Weddings. On a sunny day, having an outdoor wedding is pretty special, with the ceremony taking place on the decking and overlooking the lake.

Some people brave the outdoors no matter what, however unfortunately our wee country can have quite inclement weather, and sometimes the ceremony has to be indoors. But that never dampens anyone’s spirits!

Wedding Photos 

This is where Lusty Beg Island Resort and Spa comes into its own. There are endless photo opportunities. I absolutely love shooting here. It is a unique and beautiful place, with amazing backdrops for some dramatic photos. The jetty provides a great place to start, although recently the lake claimed a veil in the wind; so girls…hold on tight!

Ned’s Thatch looks like an old-world pub and makes for some pretty cool wedding photos. Its changed colour a few times over the years, but still has that old-world charm. I love using it as a backdrop for some of couple’s portraits.

Kenzie and Chris really rocked their wedding photos. It didn’t take them long to relax and we had plenty of craic along the way. I usually ask brides and grooms for around 45 minutes for their wedding photos. Another benefit of Lusty Beg is its size. This little gem of a venue is so intimate that in 45 minutes, we had covered everything…allowing Kenzie and Chris to get back to the party…and party they did!

Wedding Party 

The sun came out to play for the wedding party, and everyone relaxed outside to some music until dinner was called.

Kenzie and Chris had made an amazing cork table plan. They followed this theme, by making the table numbers from cork too…I loved this attention to detail. They also invited everyone to sign little wooden hearts which they ‘posted’ into a display frame for their home. It’s a lovely idea that I’ve seen at a few weddings. Cheekily, I usually sign one and pop my own ‘signature’ in too. 

After some pretty amazing speeches and the most delicious meal, the bride and groom took to the dance floor. They boogied to the tunes of The Breakfast club (who happen to be really good btw) and the party continued into the wee small hours.

Lusty Beg Island is a unique and beautiful place to host your wedding. It’s a hidden gem, providing the perfect setting for your big day.
