I’ve been there myself, and the choices seem endless. Luckily I’m now in a position to help having photographed weddings at many venues across Northern Ireland.
Venues on this list have impressed me as venues who pour their heart and soul into providing the best for couples. They treat their couples like rock stars and they have made me feel welcome too, which is always nice.
Photographers see things from all angles, we see how venues treat their staff, how they treat and refer to couples, how they treat other vendors.

Why I created this guide to wedding venues in Northern Ireland
I get asked this all the time — “Where are the best wedding venues in Northern Ireland?”
And I totally get it. When you start looking, the choice can feel a bit overwhelming really quickly.
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings all across Northern Ireland and beyond, so I’ve seen these venues properly in action — not just when I’ve been creating brochure images for the venue owners, but on real wedding days with real couples.
You notice so much more that way — how a venue actually runs on the day, how the staff treat people when things are busy, how the light changes in different spaces, and what really works when you’re trying to keep things relaxed and enjoyable.
This isn’t a copied “top venues” list pulled from the internet. It’s based on places I’ve actually worked in, weddings I’ve photographed, and venues I genuinely like going back to.
I put it together to hopefully make things a bit easier at the start of your planning — because I know how hard it is when everything still feels wide open and you’re trying to narrow it all down.

Castle Wedding Venues in Northern Ireland
Castle weddings are some of the most atmospheric to photograph in Northern Ireland. From grand historic estates to lakeside castles with modern touches, these venues all have their own character and light — which makes a huge difference on the wedding day.
Ballygally Castle Hotel
Built in 1625, Ballygally Castle is one of the most well-known coastal castle venues in Northern Ireland. It has real character, with beautiful sea views and gardens just across the road that work brilliantly for relaxed couple photos.
Belle Isle Castle
Set on its own private island in the Fermanagh lakelands, Belle Isle Castle feels incredibly peaceful and romantic. It’s a venue that really suits couples who want a slower, more private wedding experience surrounded by water and gardens.
Bellingham Castle
Just over the border in County Louth, Bellingham Castle is a luxury castle venue that still feels warm and welcoming. It’s known for its elegant interiors and beautifully kept grounds, which photograph really well in all seasons.
Crom Castle (The West Wing)
Crom Castle sits on the shores of Upper Lough Erne and feels incredibly grand but still relaxed. The West Wing is often used for weddings, giving couples access to one of the most scenic estates in Ireland.

Lissanoure Castle offers a mix of castle elegance and rustic charm, with its courtyard, clock tower, and barn-style spaces. It’s a very flexible venue, which is why it works so well for both formal and relaxed weddings.

Glenarm Castle (The Sheddings)
Glenarm Castle’s River Lodge offers a more modern, marquee-style wedding experience within historic grounds. It still carries that castle atmosphere, but with more flexibility for couples wanting a personalised setup.
Ballymagarvey Village
Ballymagarvey Village is a beautifully restored 800-year-old estate in County Meath, offering a true fairytale wedding setting just across the border. It combines historic charm with elegant gardens, courtyard spaces, and exclusive-use grounds, making it ideal for romantic, relaxed wedding days with a strong storytelling feel throughout.
Castle Leslie Estate
Castle Leslie is one of Ireland’s most iconic castle wedding venues, set within a stunning private estate in County Monaghan. It offers a unique mix of historic castle interiors, lakeside scenery, and woodland surroundings, creating a dramatic and atmospheric backdrop for both intimate and larger weddings.

Larchfield Estate
Larchfield Estate is one of the most versatile countryside wedding venues in Northern Ireland. With its walled gardens, greenhouse, lake, and barn spaces, it works beautifully for relaxed, natural weddings with lots of variety for photography.
Breckenhill
Breckenhill is a beautifully restored barn venue set in the countryside, offering both rustic charm and a really personal feel. It’s family-run, which gives weddings here a relaxed and unforced atmosphere.
The Mill at Ballydugan
A restored 18th-century flour mill, The Mill at Ballydugan is full of character. It’s one of those venues where texture and atmosphere do a lot of the work, making it ideal for documentary-style photography.

The Wool Tower, Broughshane
The Wool Tower is a converted industrial building with high ceilings, exposed brickwork, and a strong sense of character. It’s ideal for couples wanting something rustic but still quite striking visually.
Hillmount House, Drains Bay
Hillmount House combines Georgian architecture with barn and coach house spaces, giving it a slightly more refined rustic feel. It works well for couples wanting countryside atmosphere without losing elegance.
Kilmore Country House
Kilmore Country House sits in a stunning elevated position with incredible views across the Glens of Antrim. It’s exclusive-use and works really well for couples wanting privacy and scenery combined.

Altahammond Wedding Barn
Altahammond Barn is a coastal rustic venue just outside Whitehead, combining barn charm with incredible sea views. It’s a strong choice for couples wanting something relaxed but visually dramatic.

Rossharbour Resort
Rossharbour is a lakeside resort with a relaxed, weekend-wedding feel. With glamping, hot tubs, and waterfront views, it suits couples who want a full wedding experience rather than just a day.
Limepark
Limepark is a restored 17th-century courtyard venue in County Antrim, offering a unique blend of rustic charm and historic character. Its cobbled courtyard, traditional cottages, and quirky layout make it feel very different from a standard wedding venue, ideal for couples looking for something intimate, characterful, and full of personality.
Ballyscullion Park
Ballyscullion Park is a beautiful historic estate in County Londonderry, featuring walled gardens, a Georgian coach house, and flexible marquee spaces. It’s a great choice for couples who want a relaxed countryside wedding with plenty of scope to personalise the day, while still having a strong, elegant setting for photography throughout the grounds.

The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn
The Old Inn is a historic boutique hotel just outside Belfast, combining old-world charm with modern luxury & spa. It’s a really reliable venue for smooth wedding days, with beautiful nearby photo locations at Crawfordsburn Country Park.
Corick House Hotel & Spa
Corrick House is a 17th-century country house turned spa hotel, offering a relaxed but luxurious wedding setting. It works especially well for couples wanting something intimate with beautiful gardens.
Clandeboye Lodge Hotel
Clandeboye Lodge is a modern boutique hotel with beautifully landscaped gardens just outside Belfast. It’s a great mix of contemporary style and relaxed atmosphere, with excellent food and service.

The Shelbourne is one of the most iconic luxury hotels in Ireland, known for its history and city-centre location. While not in Northern Ireland, it’s often chosen by couples wanting a classic, high-end Dublin wedding experience.

Tullyglass House Hotel
Tullyglass House Hotel is a well-known wedding venue in Ballymena, offering a mix of traditional charm and modern function space. Slieve Donard Hotel & Spa
Slieve Donard is one of the most iconic wedding venues in Northern Ireland, sitting right at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Newcastle. With sweeping sea views, mountain scenery, and a grand Victorian building, it offers one of the most dramatic coastal backdrops you can get for a wedding.
The Carriage Rooms at Montalto
The Carriage Rooms at Montalto is an exclusive wedding venue within the wider Montalto Estate in County Down, offering a mix of luxury and countryside charm. It features a refined modern interior surrounded by gardens and woodland, giving plenty of natural photography options throughout the day. The venue works seamlessly for both ceremony and reception, with the wider estate providing a private, scenic backdrop just outside Belfast.

Not every couple wants a traditional hotel or castle wedding, and Northern Ireland has some brilliant alternative venues to choose from. These spaces tend to be more creative, relaxed, and a bit different — which often leads to some of the most personal and memorable wedding days.
Ulster Museum
The Ulster Museum is one of the most unique wedding venues in Belfast, offering a striking modern atrium space surrounded by art, history, and Botanic Gardens. It’s a great choice for couples who want something completely different in the heart of the city.
