Dunadry Hotel Wedding| Jonathan & Lynn
Ohhh…its not very often you get to shoot the wedding of a colleague….but thats exactly what I was up to mid September, when a good friend and fellow photographer got married. Like myself, Lynn is a Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer, and indeed we often shoot together. When she asked me to cover her wedding, yes wasn’t my first answer……. but thankfully she was persistent!
I often say that being chosen to cover someones wedding is a huge honour, and this honour is multiplied when its a fellow photographer. However, the nerves are also multiplied……by a million! I should not have worried…as I felt completely at ease with Lynn and Jonathan, and the day was fantastic from beginning to end. She kept me on my toes, and made us laugh along the way….theres not too many brides who step out of a church muttering the words “Have you changed your ISO!”
Jonathan has a big interest in fencing, indeed he is a Master Armourer, the first in Northern Ireland. He was part of the technical team at the London 2012 Olympics (and numerous other sporting events) so it was only fitting that they had a Guard of Honour with Fencing Swords when leaving the church.
We then headed to the fantastic Dunadry Hotel and Country Club for the reception. I especially love this venue, as I had my own wedding here, and like everything else, Lynn had all the little details planned to perfection. The venue was beautifully decorated, and with the sun shining, we utilised the fabulous grounds to get some lovely portraits of Jonathan and Lynn.
A delicious meal was followed by a spectacular cake cutting, using an amazing fencing sword that they then presented to the Dunadry as a gift.
Lynn and Jonathan are also dancers, however Lynn’s beautiful fitted lace dress wasn’t really made for dancing! So she got a 2nd dress especially for the dancing….and I loved it….it was just perfect for all the moves on the dance floor. They performed the most amazing 1st dance, which was followed by the best dancing I have ever seen by wedding guests!
Lynn and Jonathan…thanks so much for inviting me along. Myself and Fiona had a blast covering your wedding!
